Catell was born on Christmas Day to a French mother and Swiss father in Basel, Switzerland. She moved to London in 1997, attracted by that special British affinity for images. There, she studied illustration at Kingston University. After graduating, she worked as a publishing editorial asisstant in an office, but soon decided to focus on what she loves doing and can't stop obsessing about: expressing what she sees and feels through painting and drawing.
She went to the Royal College of Art in 2003, where she met many talented and crazy fellow illustrators from all over the world. There, she also got a major commission from the British Royal Mail, to produce a set of 6 stamps with the theme food and multicultural society, two subjects that are very close to her heart. The Queen approved of her images and the stamps were launched.
Catell works for a variety of international clients in the publishing and magazine industries. She also works as an illustration tutor at a university in north London and feels very privileged to be able to guide young and talented illustrators.
